So it turns out that if you take the entire summer off, you don't actually have more time, because you fill it with #allthefunthings. I sat down yesterday to send an email to my September retreat guests and realized I hadn't actually nailed down a menu!
I usually keep a list of food ideas on my phone: recipes that look interesting, meals I've eaten that I want to recreate, ingredients that I love (there's a lot of corn on that list...). After lots of juggling around, I think I finally have my first draft of the September menu!
You can tell my brain is still stuck a little in the summer. I've got some corn and tomatoes in there, but Saturday dinner will have all the hints of fall in the side dishes.
As I spend this last week frolicking around Toronto with the girls and soaking up the sun and thundershowers, I'm mentally preparing for a nutso September. We booked a camping trip for mid September, I'm teaching two dumpling workshops at The Depanneur, planning a baby shower for my baby brother, and also hosting the September retreat.
Maybe I shouldn't contemplate this September menu anymore and just call it DONE. Best not to dwell.
